Makeup Look using Glamour Doll Eyes

I was introduced to this company by a friend who took advantage of a sell they were having when everything was on super sale last year. So one night I decided to do something super dramatic and out of the ordinary.

The look started off with just liner, but then I started layering lashes. I think the combination of all these lashes are a drag queens fantasy or maybe just a lash enthusiast like me. haha

The Products I used were:
Stila Smuge pot in Black
Physicians Fomula Eye Booster in black
Lashes:
   Creme 28
   Red Cherry 415
   Miss Adoro 62
   Miss Adoro 80
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil Milk
Glamour Doll Eye Pigment in Electric Lemonade
Glamour Doll Eye Pigment in Oddity
Glamour Doll Eye Pigment in Angle Wings
Mac eyebrow pencil in Spiked
Urban Decay bow box in brown sugar

I'm so fired.

Okay so it's been forever since I sat in front of my blog or a camera and just started to produce some things! hahaha. I have been super busy with getting a job, to finding a new job, to fixing my camera, blah blah blah. Life got a hold of me, but I will survive. =D

So I am finally going to write about my experience at the BBC event that Pursebuzz hosted at the Bellus Academy in Poway, CA. First things first, I almost died when I saw Jasmine (@jazziebabiecakes).

Anyhoodles...

So going to this event was a complete struck of luck. I had RSVP'ed for it through facebook when she first announced it and then on her twitter she was giving away her marketing class in the AM to 4 of her followers. I replied to her acting like I knew her forever saying "Don't forget about me.." and it happened in my English class when I saw my name as a winner and I screamed SO loud! It was super cool.

So at the event I got to meet so many bloggers, MUA's, YT Celebs, Owners of makeup, and everyone else who worked or went to school at the Bellus Academy.

At the event we got tickets at the door for a raffle that they were going to have towards the end of the event and OMG. So the prizes were makeup goody bags, a clarisonic (Crystal won it!), a vanity from Vanity Girl, and a hair styling combo tools by Sultra, and other amazing prizes. The "big" prizes were the Vanity and the Sultra tools and can you believe it...I won the Sultra goodies! To this day I am still like in shock. I met people like Vicki and Crystal. Vicki is a blogger who I just found again on twitter! Crystal is a MUA in SD I believe and she is the nicest person ever. She is so beautiful and sweet, I hope we can have lunch one of these days.

So at the event there were so many complimentary things like massages, NuFace, facials, makeovers, shampoo and style, nail shtuff...all that jazz.

I will say the best part was meeting all the wonderful people, including the YT celebs. I am going to upload some pics and I hope you all don't hate me for being so late about this blog.

Sultra BOMBSHELL

My friend is graduating from SDSU in a week. I am so happy for her and as a graduation present I decided to do her makeup and hair.

She has extremely long, thick, layered hair so I wanted to see what her hair would look like after using the Sultra Bombshell Curling Iron. I asked her if she had ever used a styling product like it and she said no. She told me she could never get those cute spiral curls and shes always wanted to see what they would look like on her. So we started off with clean dried hair.

I started off at the base of her head and took small sections. I noticed the smaller the section, the tighter the curl. I continued it to the tip of the head and after the hair was curled, I went in with my fingers and broke the curls so that it didn't look so quinceanera/prom-like.

Here is her hair with all the curls brushed though with my hands and a little bit of shine spray added. One this I will say when using the Bombshell, you have to make sure and use a heat protectant before you curl the hair. I used the Curl Safe by Sultra and added a shine to the hair and it made her curls feel light and weightless. To add to the fact that it protects the hair follicle, it also smells SOOOOO good.

So after all this the results came out beautifully. She is super excited for graduation and I can't wait to see what people say about her hair and makeup.

Congrats to her and I hope you guys like it.

Drugstore Lipsticks

I am loving the Covergirl LipPerfection Lipsticks. The colors are amazing and for the price its something you can't pass up. I find it that its best to buy them at places like CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid because they usually have the BOGO sales. They have 44 beautiful shades and they range in prices from $4 - $10 dollars.

I don't have all the colors but there are these 5 that I am in love with. I have Rapture, Flame, Temptress, Spellbound, and Heavenly.

Covergirl claims that after 7 days of using the lipsticks your lips will be soft, smooth, and beautiful because of the moisturizing formula. What's interesting about the lipsticks is that for being a moisturizing lipsticks, the longevity of them are amazing. The pigmentation of the product is AMAZING.
I love these lipsticks and with the variety of colors, you are sure to find something that fits your personality and style.

Hope you guys enjoy the swatches and if you have any questions, let me know.

Minaj Inspired

After having a long conversation with some friends, we came to the conclusion that Nicki Minaj makeup has some common factors in them. The makeup includes dramatic lashes and bold colors. My inspiration for this look was pink...since her album is call Pink Friday, but my twist on it was that I added a complimentary color on the lower lash line.

I used a frosted baby pink all over the lid but added a matte/satin pink in the outer V. Finishing it off with a pop of green in the lower lash line.

Hope you enjoy.

Spring Fashion: What I wear.

Finally it's time to bring out your flip flops, colorful tees, and shorts. The thing about the weather and where I live, we don't get much "spring" weather. It starts to warm up around the end and sometimes middle of March.

So this spring/summer I am going to be wearing a lot of basics. I always wear button downs every season, I just change the material of shirts. My number one thing is that make sure you are comfortable. I usually take the pain of fashion during the fall/winter time because it's when you can wear peacoats, ties, all that jazz. This spring I am loving v-neck shirts. I never liked the v-neck, but I found a basic brand that makes the shirts just perfect, not too shallow or deep.

Breaking it down:
SHIRTS
     - I am rocking Hanes V-Neck Tee's from Target. They come in a package of two and are perfect.
     - I also like Old Navy button down shirts. I am a huge fan of button downs with long sleeves. The only thing I do that is my signature thing is rolling them up and leaving the top button undone.
This is the perfect top to rock during the day and also during the night. It's around $24 dollars but at the moment, it's $17 dollars. So go get it while it's hot.

BOTTOMS:
     - This Spring/Summer it's all about breathable fabrics. Don't get me wrong I will probably rock rolled up jeans, but I am going make sure when buying khakis and shorts, I pay attention to the material.
     - I am never a fan of anything cargo, especially pants but I love rocking these Old Navy shorts.
Love khaki shorts from Old Navy. I need more of these with different colors. No joke.

SHOES:
     - I am rocking rainbow sandals. Rainbow Sandals are the best sandal ever! They last a really long time. They mold to your foot and another plus is that they are guaranteed for life. I tried almost all the ones they sell, form the classic to the smooth leather. My favorite pair of all time are the premier leather.
The cool thing is that you can rock them with jeans and shorts. And especially with your favorite board shorts.

Another shoe that is an actual shoe and not a sandal are these awesome pair of etnies. They are eco-friendly and super duper comfortable. I usually wear them during the night when we go out or when I don't feel like showing my toes or forgot to get a pedicure.

All in all, you can see that I am a huge fan of Old Navy. I love the clothing because they fit people from the smallest guy/girl to a big guy like me.

Hope this helps.

Skincare

Taking care of your skin is extremely important, especially if you want your makeup to look good. I know how frustrating skincare can get. There are cleansers, toners, moisturizers, treatments...blah blah blah.

I started getting really bad acne when I was in 7th grade. It wasn't until this semester when I found a routine that works for MY skin.

Background:
I have oily skin year round but it gets worst in the summer.
I have large pores.
I shave and it causes irritation...sometimes.

Cleanser:
I currently use Glycolic Facial Cleanser from Anthony Logistics and L'oreal Paris Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser for Sensitive skin. (NOTE: I don't have sensitive skin, but this has the same consistency of Philosophy's Purity Make Simple)
When I want to exfoliate, I use the Anthony Logistics Facial Scrub.

Toner:
I don't use toner. I think that if you wash your skin well enough...you can skip this step.

Moisturizer:
I think I found my 'holy grail' moisturizer. I use the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer.  I used to use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, but it felt extremely tacky and just sat on my skin.

Extra:
When I break out all of a sudden because of lack of sleep or stress I use an acne spot treatment from Clean & Clear.

Shaving:
I use Anthony Logistics Shaving Cream. I used to shave with a drugstore shaving gel, but this has worked WONDERS. I also use a new razor every week.

Masks:
I use the Queen Helene mint julep masque on days that my skin feels like caca. Another mask that I just purchased at a CCO is the Mac Volcanic Ash Thermal mask and I am IN LOVE!

I am still in the search for the perfect eye cream, but I have heard good things about the Garnier Skin Renew Eyeroller.

Overall, you should take care of your skin so that your foundation sits nicer on the skin. I hope what I use may help someone else.

Drag Series: Pop of lip

So one of the benefits of knowing how to do makeup is that when you get bored you just start to grab all the palettes you have, wash your face, and hack at it. One night, I wanted to try and do a extreme smokey eye. So I washed my face, applied moisturizer and then remembered that I had a primer that I just purchased that I wanted to test out. So I did my foundation and then decided...screw it.. this is going to be something drag-ish. Then in the middle of applying eyeshadow I remembered that I purchased some HUGE lashes from Red Cherry and I was like.. OH YES!

Products I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Mac Painterly Paint pot
Mac Silverthorne Eyeshadow
Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania palette
Mac Carbon Eyeshadow
Loreal Liner Intense Carbon Black Liquid Liner
Estee Lauder brow powder
Red Cherry Eyelashes #201
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 310
e.l.f Blusher and Bronzer Duo
Revlon Matte Lipstick in Stormy Pink 011

What I wanted to end up doing was a pop of pink. I am still in the hunt for a good pink since I am not a fan of matte lipsticks.

One thing I noticed when I did this look is that, when you apply a highlighter to your face...you can really see it in photos and it makes a HUGE difference.

Enjoy,
Carlos

Birthday Blog (late)

I believe that my 21st birthday is going to be the most memorable. I've never felt so much love and so much attention from friends. Its the best feeling in the world, without a doubt. I received some amazing gifts from family and friends.

So I have been talking about getting the MUFE HD setting powder for ever. Marcie can totally agree with me when I say that I talked about it almost all the time. The problem that I always came across was that I could ever find a good enough reason to purchase it. This past holiday season, MUFE came out with gift sets and one of them was a set of all of the most popular items from the line. I received this gift from Marcie and I almost cried...well I did tear. I couldn't believe it. I finally have it!

It's called the MUFE Rock For Ever Best of Make Up For Ever. I don't know how to thank her enough. This is super cool. It comes with the HD powder, HD Primer, Sens'Eyes, Smokey Lash Mascara, and Aqua Eyes Black Eyeliner.

I can't wait to try the powder. Maybe by the end of this week, I will have everything testes and give my first impressions.

I hit target with my sister later that night and I saw the new Cover Girl lipsticks. They are called the Lip Perfection Lipstick and the company claims that it creates smoother lips in 7 days. So I liked the packaging and I decided, wth..it's my birthday and purchased one.

I got the color Spell Bound and it is a really pretty fuchsia color. When I swatched it on my hand I noticed right off the back how creamy and pigmented it was.

My only concern about it is the longevity of the lipstick. Other than that...bravo Cover Girl.
